Last night Andy Leeks, Nigel Croft and Brian Hillman took on a very formidable team from Appleyard Bowls club, which had Harry Goodwin Skip ( England bowler, ranked no 8 in the world), No 2. Lewis King ( runner up in British Bowls Championship last month) and at No1 Isaac Jenner (current under 25 Kent Champion), this was played at a very newly built Peninsular Bowls Club at Hoo. The facilities were first class, the ground having been built by a property developer.
Headcorn won the first end , however the Appleyard team got into their stride and were ahead 20-2 after 6 ends , their class shining through, to be admired by all spectators . Headcorn team starting finding their range and managed to get their final score to 16 against 26 to Appleyard . Our fightback was tremendous against last year's winners of this competition ( and probably this years). Well done to Andy, Nigel & Brian for putting on such a good display. The game was played in an excellent spirit, both teams relaxed and enjoying their opponent's company.
Well done to Andy for reaching the Divisional semi finals of the county singles at Borough Green recently , but being beaten by another Appleyard bowler, and for his excellent progress in the Kent Champion of Champions.
And thank you to all who entered the County games in 2024 (including the ladies)
