The formation of Headcorn Bowls Club
Mr Roy Hooker called a public meeting, at which he offered to give this piece of land for a bowls green, if those present were willing to work to raise the money for it to be laid. This offer was accepted and it was agreed to go ahead.
Monthly meetings were held during this period at the Kings Arms in Headcorn with usually about 20 in attendance. With Roy leading, organising and persuading , this group raised, my means of Race nights, May Fairs etc, together with grants, loans and donations the sum of £26,000,
This was the cost of laying the green in 1985.
Green officially opened by Lord Monkton, this followed by a match against Loose.
