The formation of Headcorn Bowls Club
1981
Mr Roy Hooker called a public meeting, at which he offered to give this piece of land for a bowls green, if those present were willing to work to raise the money for it to be laid. This offer was accepted and it was agreed to go ahead.
1981-1985
Monthly meetings were held during this period at the Kings Arms in Headcorn with usually about 20 in attendance. With Roy leading, organising and persuading , this group raised, my means of Race nights, May Fairs etc, together with grants, loans and donations the sum of £26,000,
This was the cost of laying the green in 1985.
1986
Green officially opened by Lord Monkton, this followed by a match against Loose.
